The Athletic reported that Zion Williamson wants out of New Orleans after TWO SEASONS. Williamson and his family are upset that the organization has not surrounded Williamson with the right pieces to win. It has nothing to do with the Pelicans’ roster. He wants to go to New York.

“New York might be my favorite place to play outside of New Orleans. I can’t lie to you”. Well, you did because that statement includes New Orleans.

It is not easy to win in the NBA. It’s even harder with the players forming their own super teams, leading to only 2-3 real contenders each year (without injuries). The Pelicans received solid pieces in a trade with the Lakers for Anthony Davis (Hart, Ball, Ingram) who also did not want to be in New Orleans. There is real potential on their young roster. But it’s a player league and the players have no patience. They want to play for their own team and get paid as soon as possible.

So, what’s going to stop Jayson Tatum from requesting a trade to the Suns next year to play with his friend Devin Booker when the Celtics fail to meet expectations? What will stop Jaylen Brown from requesting a trade to his hometown Hawks to play with Trae Young? If the Celtics don’t figure it out, that is exactly what is going to happen. And no one will blame the players. The franchise will suffer a huge loss both locally and nationally. Do people outside of New England blame Kyrie for leaving here?
